How to Get Better at Anything
Thinking about doing something is not the same as doing it.
The only way to become good at something is to simply do it.
Not just think and dream about doing it, but actually do it, because there is no substitute for the experience.
Are you willing to be the kind of person you expect others to be?
It is easy to focus on what other people are doing or not doing, how they are being wrong, and what they should change to accommodate our discomfort.
It’s much harder to be anchored in integrity and practice the very things we expect from others.
Daily Reset
Before your habitual thoughts, states, and behaviors take over, pause for a moment to reflect on:
How you want to feel
What you want to focus on
What you want to prioritize
It's Time To Get Help
We are not meant to live in states of overwhelm, anxiety, and lethargy.
We are meant to grow, learn, and evolve through our challenges, not be defeated by them.
Gems from “The Creative Act”
Audio books can be a hit or miss for me, but this one is beautiful narrated and captivating to listen, not to mention it’s filled with wisdom and insights. Here are a few of my favorite quotes:
It’s better to follow the universe than those around you.
On Making Decisions
Do you struggle to make a decision or do you tend to ask everyone else for their opinion first?
Or maybe you feel like you know what you want but when you hear a different opinion you start questioning yourself?
Daily Reminder
It’s so tempting to believe someone has all the answers for you. But this is not the case. We have a natural tendency to avoid discomfort and want to skip through the hard stuff (no judgment, I prefer things to be easy too!).
Let This Moment Be a New Moment
Even if it feels like an experience you had in the past, you haven't lived this moment yet. Let yourself fully experience it without seeing it through the eyes of the past.
Note On Progress
Progress is when you realize you’re in a place that so many past versions of you longed to be in. It happens as a result of a work no one can do for you but yourself and there's no way around it but through.
Redefine Balance
Balance doesn't mean we equally give attention to every aspect of our life. It is about knowing what matters to us, and what our needs, values, and priorities are. The below suggestions are based on my personal 'rules' so feel free to take what resonates and adapt them in a way that makes sense to you. Redefining balance is not about forcing yourself to mimic someone else's way of living, but creating your own so it is sustainable with your lifestyle.
Staying Open to Learning About Ourselves
As soon as we start believing we know everything about ourselves, we stop learning.
Self-inquiry, curiosity, open-mindedness are some of the most powerful tools for healing and growth, because they challenge our assumptions and rigid beliefs we hold about ourselves - often beliefs that are misguiding us.
Our Imagination Is More Powerful Than Our Reality
Our imagination is so much more powerful than our reality. By imagining something that's not real, we create real feelings in the present moment. Let's say you imagine a future outcome not going your way, or if you think about an uncomfortable memory that took place at some point, you will start to evoke feelings as if that event is happening in the present moment.
How To Be Confident
When it comes to tips on confidence, you've probably heard of the good old advice to "fake till you make it."
How We Give Our Power Away
A subtle way in which we give our power away is by imagining that others are thinking about us and judging us, and then making decisions based on these imagined judgments.
Use Your Energy to Create the Life You Will Love
You can use your energy to manage and tolerate your life or you can use that energy to create the life you will love.
Law of Attraction Takeaways
If you actively engage in personal growth and development, the chances are that you've heard of Abraham Hicks teachings and the law of attraction. I will share more about my experience with it in a separate post, but here are my favorite takeaways from this weekend's Law of Attraction workshop.
True Answers
True answers come to us from peace and clarity, not anxiety.
Most of us spend way more time feeding our anxieties and negative predictions than we spend nurturing our possibilities.
Ask More, Assume Less
We often burden ourselves to know what someone else is thinking and feeling.
We project our past experiences on the person in front of us and assume we know how they might respond, what they might think, and how they might behave.
Don't Wait to Change Until You Have No Choice
Just because things could be worse, doesn’t mean you need to wait for a crisis to change what’s no longer working.
